Somerset County Smart Growth Strategic Plan, Phase I
This
project involved data collection and model development, public outreach
and consensus building, and planning coordination analysis. The data collection
included assisting in preparing PlanSmart NJ's GOZ® Model
to use in Somerset County. PlanSmart NJ prepared a draft County Profile and Trends
/ Issues Report, which presents data for three major systems (economy,
transportation, and environment), highlights significant trends, and identifies
key policy issues. The outreach activities included working with a project
Steering Committee and sub-area advisory groups, conducting focus group
sessions, and participating in community events. This project laid the
groundwork for Phases II and III, which will include analyzing alternative
development scenarios, preparing a county strategic plan, and developing
an implementation agenda.
