The Land Use, Infrastructure, and Environment Project (LUIE)

The LUIE project was developed to determine how to link federal and state legislation, such as the Clean Air Act and the State Planning Act, and various regulatory programs with infrastructure and land-use decision-making to achieve better environmental outcomes. PlanSmart NJ received funding to chair the statewide steering committee and conduct consensus-building around the recommendations of the project. The project was jointly sponsored by the New Jersey Department of Transportation and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, and PlanSmart NJ collaborated with the Office of State Planning on this project.
