US 1 Regional Smart Growth Assessment

TrafficPlanSmart NJ will serve as a sub-contractor for DMJM + Harris, an engineering and planning consulting firm, to conduct a comprehensive transportation and land use assessment of the US 1 corridor between Trenton and New Brunswick. The main goal of this project is to assess the best means to understand the relationship of several proposed major capacity highway projects to the smart growth agenda of the State of New Jersey.

The primary objective of PlanSmart NJ's work on this project is to determine the extent to which policy-makers can implement smart growth land use policy in the study area. We will seek to identify opportunities to modify both projects and local planning measures to establish a framework that can deliver smart growth outcomes over an appropriate time horizon. In addition, we will assist in engaging all parties (state, county, and municipal) in an aggressive interactive planning process that can forge the partnership to implement the smart growth outcomes.
