Bromley Neighborhood Project

The Bromley Neighborhood Planning Initiative is an effort undertaken by Isles, Inc. through a grant from the Municipal Land Use Center. Isles commissioned PlanSmart NJ to develop a transportation-focused plan to revitalize and enhance the East State Street corridor within Hamilton Township. The corridor extends from the Bromley neighborhood on the Trenton border to the Hamilton Train Station, including the area near the well-known Grounds for Sculpture Park.

The study, completed earlier this year by PlanSmart NJ’s Senior Project Planner Jeffrey Wilkerson, analyzed land use, economic, cultural, transportation, and environmental data to produce an Existing Conditions report. We also produced a Market Study, Zoning Code Analysis, Context-Sensitive Design Guidelines, and a Final Plan and Design Manual. Community involvement was solicited in a number of public meetings and a planning advisory committee was set up. The corridor’s functionality and appearance are critical to its continued vitality. The result of the project was a neighborhood plan organized around enhancing the safety and accessibility of the corridor for walking and transit use for people of all ages.
